Kristen L. Smith, PhD, D(ABMM)
Dr. Smith earned her doctorate in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical microbiology at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York and is a certified diplomate of the American Board of Medical Microbiology. Dr. Smith oversees the scientific integrity and regulatory compliance of the testing performed at ViroMed.
Tania Motschman, MS, MT(ASCP)SBB
Quality Director, ViroMed Laboratories and Esoteric Business Units; AVP, LabCorp
Tania completed her medical technology degree at the University of Kentucky and received a master’s in immunohematology as well as her SBB from the University of Cincinnati and the Paul I. Hoxworth Blood Center. She has more than 40 years’ experience in blood banking operations management and quality and regulatory management in blood banking, laboratory medicine, and organization-wide inpatient and outpatient healthcare. She has chaired numerous national and international committees, most notably AABB’s quality management standards committee and quality management accreditation committee and CLSI’s quality management system expert panel. She has published extensively on quality and regulatory topics in healthcare and laboratory medicine and is a frequent speaker at national meetings. Tania is responsible for oversight of ViroMed’s quality systems

Daniel received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Rochester. He has over 20 years of experience working in and supervising clinical laboratories, specializing in infectious diseases, immunology, molecular virology and donor testing at the University of Rochester’s Medical Laboratories in Rochester, New York. Daniel is responsible for oversight of Viromed’s daily operations.
